Hermitage museum faced various wars and revolutions after 1991, due to which it lost many of the valuable arts and paintings as well as jewelry.
During the expansion and development of the Museum, many personalities have given their contributions such as- Lionardo da Vinchi, Piccasso, Van Dyck, Michelangelo, Pissaro, Canova and many more. Most of the existing gold collections in the museum were from different countries of Western Asia and Eastern Europe.
